EzRoute ("we", "our", "the app") is a travel itinerary sharing application. This privacy policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your personal information.

Data We Collect

Account Information

• Email address (used for sign-in)
• Display name (shown on your profile and itineraries)
• Profile photo (optional, uploaded by you)

If you sign in with Apple, we receive only the name and email you choose to share. Apple may provide a private relay email address.

User-Generated Content

• Travel itineraries you create (countries, cities, places, restaurants, transport tips, personal notes)
• Votes (upvotes and downvotes on other users' itineraries)
• Saved itineraries

Automatically Collected

• Authentication tokens (stored locally on your device for session management)
• Basic usage data (which itineraries you view or expand)

Data We Do NOT Collect

• Precise location data
• Contacts or address book
• Financial or payment information
• Health or fitness data
• Browsing history outside the app
• Device identifiers for advertising

How We Use Your Data

Your data is used solely to provide and improve the EzRoute service:

• Displaying your profile to other users
• Showing your itineraries in the public feed
• Recording your votes and saved itineraries
• Authenticating your identity when you sign in

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes. We do not serve advertisements in the app.

Third-Party Services

EzRoute uses the following third-party services to operate:

Firebase by Google (authentication, database, image storage)

• Your account data and itineraries are stored on Firebase servers
• Firebase processes your email for authentication
• Profile photos are stored in Firebase Cloud Storage
• Privacy policy: firebase.google.com/support/privacy

TripAdvisor Content API (restaurant and attraction search)

• When you search for places while creating an itinerary, your search query (place name + city) is sent to TripAdvisor's API
• No personal information is shared with TripAdvisor

Apple Sign In (optional authentication method)

• If you use Sign in with Apple, Apple facilitates the authentication
• We receive only the information you approve sharing

Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on Google Firebase servers located in the United States. Your authentication session is stored locally on your device using encrypted storage. We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including HTTPS encryption for all data in transit.

Data Retention

We retain your account data and content for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days. Some anonymized data (such as vote counts on itineraries) may be retained.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your personal data — view your profile and content in the app
• Correct your data — edit your display name, bio, and profile photo in the app
• Delete your data — request full account deletion by contacting us
• Export your data — request a copy of your data by contacting us

Children's Privacy

EzRoute is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
